#TMNT 4 SNES BIG APPLE 3 AM FULL#
I hope you get soon to the point in your disassembly to be able to add new full enemies. I never liked that concept at all, it's like they really aren't them but some sort of cheap clones. While you are at it, please do one hack restoring the bosses you have already faced to their original colors instead of those palette swaps that appear in the Gauntlet. And by the end it looks like they developed the gauntlet in a rush so they didn't have time to add polish at the end of development. Consider how much polish most of the game has it seems like if they wanted to implement it they would have in an earlier level (for example stage 1 area 2 has several diagonal tiles for walking by the dumpster and at the end of the area, however this was never really showcased anywhere else). I think it might be an oversight (using Turtles in Time arcade for primary reference).

The code is insignificant in bytes, and it would require the block maps to be taller but full of empty space and since they use block and tile encoding for the background. Overall, having owned and played TMNT3 first back in the day, really raised my hopes way too high for TMNT in Time & HH to even come close to meeting. It would have barely cost any rom cart space. The Arcade has no excuse, but the home ports have the "it would cost more rom cart space" excuse. This is on my wish list to add since I know it would be possible (but it would still take some effort). I never understood why the NES had this but both the Genesis and SNES didn't. You know what is cool but didn't have gameplay issues? How TMNT 3 on the NES has diagonal scrolling.

Neon night riders looks cool but the gameplay wasn't that great. So I would need to rip things myself from the arcade and SNES. The biggest problem I run into over and over converting Turtles in Time is that it is a pain to recreate (for example the parallax background took stitching together several images since I didn't have access to the individual layers). The fly Baxter would be cool, but I am not at the point in my disassembly to be able to add new full enemies so that is lacking.

In the open movie (where it starts with April reporting the statue is stolen, she says a little more than the SNES TiT but would require a sound change to remove that chunk, but I did change Shredder's dialogue and the turtles dialogue to the SNES TiT dialogue (and since both of these are shorter than the HH dialogue I had to make it display slower and longer delay to keep the music timing the same). Oh well, at least I hope you can do an original game that could turn up better than both Turtles in Time and Hyperstone Heist. The only thing that would be missing, I guess, would be the Mode7 features like the Neon Riders stage (although the arcade Neon Riders is fine with me) and the in-between levels cutscenes that use it, but I think the benefits would be better as the SNES version is very lacking in some departments like the music one. It could be greatly improved upon the SNES version by means of the specific strenghts of the Mega Drive version of Hyperstone Heist like the better controls (dedicated run button simply destroys the cluncky SNES version control) and also the much better music conversion, together with the fact of getting some features from the arcade version like the speech samples that are not in the SNES version. I understand your point in doing an original game, but I'm a little disappointed about the fact that you won't make a full Mega Drive version of Turtles in Time.

Also, the giant Krang robot that appears at a certain point of the level in the background, but I guess that takes a lot of effort too. I was expecting the Fly Baxter Stockman from Turtles in Time instead of the regular Baxter Stockman of Hyperstone Heist (which was reused from TMNT 1989 Arcade), but I suppose that would take a lot to convert/port. The only things that could be added to make it better are the speech samples of the arcade Turtles in Time, which are not present in the SNES version. Which is fine with me, because I deem both of them superior to their Turtles in Time counterparts (especially the intro scene).

When you say "modified the open movie to use the turtles in time dialogue", what do you mean? It's the Scene 1 screen with the "Big Apple 3AM" speech and the Fly Baxter silhouette? Because I noticed both the opening scene and the intro scene of the games are still the same of Hyperstone Heist. As always, an excellent job with this disassembly/hack, bgvanbur.
